A RESIDENTIAL LAND USE PREDICTION MODEL FOR TRANSPORTATION PLANNING, WITH DISCUSSION AND CLOSURE

THE MODEL RELIES CONCEPTUALLY ON THE INTERVENING OPPORTUNITIES MODEL AND ALLOWS CHOICE OF LOCATION TO BE SIMULATED THROUGH A VARIABLE PROBABILITY DENSITY FUNCTION. THE RELEVANT FUNCTION IS DEFINED IN THE CALIBRATION OF THE MODEL BY ASSIGNING A PARTICULAR VALUE TO A CALIBRATION PARAMETER, CALLED THE 'DISPERSAL PARAMETER'. THE RESULTS OF ACTUAL DATA ANALYSIS ARE PRESENTED AND THE SUITABILITY OF THE MODEL IN THE LIGHT OF THESE RESULTS IS DISCUSSED. /AUTHOR/
