A SURVEY OF THE ELEMENTARY TRANSPORTATION COURSE AT SELECTED UNIVERSITIES

A SURVEY IS CONDUCTED ON ELEMENTARY TRANSPORTATION COURSES IN 47 COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES IN THE UNITED STATES. THE PREREQUISITE AT THE MAJORITY OF INSTITUTIONS WAS A BASIC BACKGROUND IN ECONOMICS. THE SCHOOLS ALL OFFERED THE COURSE IN EITHER THE BUSINESS OR ECONOMICS DEPARTMENTS. ACCORDING TO 53% OF THE PROFESSORS SURVEYED, THE MAIN GOAL OF THE COURSE WAS TO SHOW STUDENTS THE ROLE OF TRANSPORTATION IN THE ECONOMY. THE VALUE OF THE COURSE WAS DEEMED GREATEST FOR TRANSPORTATION AND PHYSICAL DISTRIBUTION MAJORS. /AUTHOR/
