ECONOMIC QUESTIONS-INFLUENCES OF THE HIGHWAY NETWORK ON THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE COUNTRY (BELGIUM)

THE REPORT FROM BELGIUM PRESENTS ECONOMIC AND SOCIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF A TERRITORY ON THE SCALE OF A CITY. THE INFLUENCE OF THE HIGHWAY NETWORK DIFFERS ACCORDING TO THE CASE, AND SO THE HIGHWAY NETWORK HAS POLYVALENT FUNCTIONS. THE INFLUENCE OF THE HIGHWAY NETWORKS ARE REVIEWED ON THE MEGALOPOLIS LEVELS IN COORDINATION WITH CONTINENTAL EUROPEAN DEVELOPMENT. THE HIGHWAY TAKES ITS PLACE INDEPENDENTLY IN THE GRAND REGIONAL LEVEL, BUT IN THE METROPOLITAN LEVEL THE HIGHWAYS BRANCHED OFF IN A CAPILLARY MANNER TO NOURISH THE URBAN TISSUES. DIVERSE INFLUENCES OF THE HIGHWAY NETWORK IN REGIONS OF ECONOMIC EXPANSION AND ON DEVELOPING TERRITORY ARE DISCUSSED.
