TRANSPORTATION ON EARTH

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TRANSPORTATION AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IS DEMONSTRATED BY COMPARING THE ECONOMICS OF NORTH AMERICAN COUNTRIES WITH THOSE OF THE UNDERDEVELOPED NATIONS OF ASIA AND AFRICA. HIGHWAYS AND OTHER TRANSPORTATION FACILITIES ARE NEEDED IN UNDERDEVELOPED COUNTRIES TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM OF FOOD SHORTAGES AND INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT. IN CANADA AND THE UNITED STATES, COORDINATION AND RATIONALIZATION OF TRANSPORTATION IS HELPING TO OVERCOME INEFFICIENCY AND TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCES. TRANSPORTATION AND LAND USE PLANNING ARE NEEDED TO FORM COMMUNITY PLANS TO DESIGN THE CITY FOR LIVING, NOT JUST FOR MOVING.
