APPLICATION OF HIGHWAY ENGINEERING ECONOMY

ENGINEERING ECONOMY ANALYSIS /E.G. A BENEFIT-COST RATIO ANALYSIS, A RATE-OF-RETURN SOLUTION OR ANOTHER METHOD OF COMPARING INPUT COSTS WITH OUTPUT BENEFITS/ IS DISCUSSED IN REGARD TO APPLICATIONS TO EVERY PROPOSAL FOR IMPROVEMENT. ALL PROPOSED INVESTMENTS IN HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENTS SHOULD BE ANALYZED FROM THE STANDPOINT OF ENGINEERING ECONOMY BUT THE PROBLEM IS TO OBTAIN THE REQUIRED DATA TO MAKE THE ANALYSIS. THE AUTHORS HAVE PRESENTED EXAMPLES OF TYPES OF IMPROVEMENTS ADAPTABLE TO AN ANALYSIS OF ECONOMY AND A LIST OF FACTORS NECESSARY TO A COMPLETE ANALYSIS.
