Technology Helps Paratransit Services Go Lean
This article examines paratransit operations of three agencies. Community Action of Southern Kentucky, or GO BG Transit, is located in Bowling Green, Kentucky and transported 6,893 disabled passengers in 2009 using 22 vehicles. Utah Transit Authority in Salt Lake City transported almost half a million riders in 2009 using 150 vehicles. Boone County Transportation of Boone, Iowa, transported 9,745 passengers using 17 vehicles. Spokespeople for these three agencies describe their greatest challenges in delivering services over the past year and how they have solved them.
