FUEL AND OIL SEPARATION FOR HYDROFOIL CRAFT

Since no provision is made on hydrofoil craft for fuel separation, the engines do not start or operate with unbalanced power distribution to the cylinders because of water in the fuel. The filling stations of the Kama Steamship Company are outfitted for fuel and oil separation with STs-3 separators which have a capacity of 3000 liters per hour. The electric power for these separators is furnished by a 12 kw diesel generator and electric motors which are built into the same framework with the separators to form a single unit. The procedure for cleaning the oil is described. It is expected that the filling stations will service up to 40-45 ships equipped M-50 and M-400 engines.
