CURRENT AND POST-WAR APPLICATION OF ROAD LIFE DATA

AVAILABLE REVENUE, REQUIRED ANNUAL EXPENDITURES, AND ANTICIPATED REVENUE ARE BASIC ITEMS INVOLVED IN DECIDING THE SIZE OF A STATE ROAD SYSTEM. ROAD LIFE DATA ARE OF MATERIAL ASSISTANCE TO THE HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATOR IN MAKING NEW DESIGNATIONS AND IN SELECTING PROJECTS FOR NEW CONSTRUCTION. EVEN AFTER CONSTRUCTION, ROAD LIFE STUDIES ARE MADE TO DETERMINE MAINTENANCE NEEDS AND, EVENTUALLY, REPLACEMENT OF THE PAVEMENT. /AUTHOR/
