CONSTRUCTION BY CONTRACT AND BY DAY LABOR

THE RELATIVE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF PUBLIC WORKS CONSTRUCTED BY DAY LABOR CONTRACT ARE DISCUSSED, AND DATA FROM TWO SURVEYS ARE PRESENTED. GENERALLY, CONTRACT WORK WAS FAVORED FOR HEAVY EXCAVATION, LARGE BRIDGES AND HIGH TYPE PAVING, WHICH TYPES OF WORK ARE RELATIVELY INFREQUENT IN COUNTY OPERATIONS. ADVANTAGES OF DAY LABOR APPEARED TO BE MOST APPARENT ON SMALL OPERATIONS. /AUTHOR/
