SAMPLE SURVEY DESIGN

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF SAMPLE SURVEYS, DESCRIPTIVE AND ANALYTIC. THE AIM OF THE FIRST IS TO DETERMINE THE NATURE AND DESCRIBE THE RELATIONSHIPS, IF ANY, OF A GIVEN PHENOMENON. THE SECOND IS TYPICALLY MORE COMPLEX AND MORE DIFFICULT BECAUSE THE RELATIONSHIPS HAVE NOT MERELY TO BE DESCRIBED BUT EXPLAINED AND WEIGHED. AN EXAMPLE OF A SAFETY MEASURES PROGRAM WITH THREE VARIABLES INTERACTING IN TIME AND EFFECT IS GIVEN.
