A PLANNER'S VIEW OF EXPRESS HIGHWAYS

EXPRESS HIGHWAY PLANNING IS DISCUSSED IN CONTEXT WITH URBAN REORGANIZATION. URBAN RESEARCH IS ADVANCING THROUGH STUDIES OF HIGHWAYS, HOUSING, POPULATION, FINANCE, HEALTH, WELFARE, AND TAXATION. THE IMPORTANCE OF EXPRESS HIGHWAY PLANNING IN BUILDING, AND REBUILDING URBAN COMMUNITIES AND THE RELIEF OF URBAN TRAFFIC CONGESTION ARE DISCUSSED. IT IS HOPED THAT GREATLY INCREASED CONSTRUCTION OF EXPRESSWAYS WILL REDUCE URBAN TRAFFIC CONGESTION. THE FUNCTIONAL ASPECTS OF CITIES ARE STRESSED IN THIS DISCUSSION OF HIGHWAY PLANNING. THE NEED IS EMPHASIZED FOR CITY PLANNING RESEARCH AND TRAFFIC PLANNING RESEARCH.
