Maritime Security. The National Maritime Intelligence Center
This article discusses how the National Maritime Intelligence Center (NMIC) traces its roots to the July 2004 9/11 Commission report that highlighted the need for better collaboration, integration, and data sharing across the intelligence community as well as for more timely provision of actionable intelligence to decision makers. In its wake, the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 authorized the newly named Director of National Intelligence to establish national intelligence centers to provide all-source analysis.
