Streetlite- Wright's bright new star
A newly designed low floor Wrightbus mid-sized bus is described. There are two versions of the bus, a wheel-forward version built to 8.8m and 9.5m lengths with the door directly behind the front wheels and capacities of 33 and 37 seat respectively, and a 10.8m door forward version with 41 seatswith higher maneuverability. On both versions the windscreen is angled a further 8degrees to reduce reflection and driver visibility from the crash-protected cab has been improved. The vehicle has four paired accessible priority seats near the entrance. The vehicle is built to a 12 tonne gross weight. The 10.8m vehicle is expected to compete with an 18 tonne 12m vehicle which may have only four more seats. The bus features a full rear window which creates a brighter interior. As well as the diesel version, a Siemens hybrid version with roof-mounted batteries is planned.
