IMPROVEMENT OF THE GEOMETRY OF AERIAL PHOTOS

IMPROVEMENT IN THE SIZE OF THE RESIDUAL DISCREPANCIES IN ANALYTIC AEROTRIANGULATION IS OBTAINED IF SUFFICIENT ATTENTION IS PAID TO THE MATHEMATICAL MODEL AND IF REGRESSION ANALYSES ARE APPLIED. THE DIFFERENT MODELS STUDIED INDICATE THAT THE MORE SOPHISTICATED MODELS OFFER THE SMALLEST RESIDUALS. THE PROCEDURES ARE APPLIED TO DATA FROM THE RHEIDT TEST AREA. THE ANALYSES TEND TO CORRECT FOR IMAGE DEFORMATION, UNCORRECTED LENS DISTORTION AND ATMOSPHERIC REFRACTION. THE APPROACH ALSO APPLIES VARIANCE-COVARIANCE AND CORRELATION COEFFICIENTS. /AUTHOR/
