ENERGY; GONE TODAY HERE TOMORROW?

A SPECIAL SAE COMMITTEE ASSESSES THE KEY LIMITATIONS LIKELY TO BE IMPOSED ON THE FORM AND USE OF ENERGY FOR TRANSPORTING PEOPLE AND MATERIALS. IT ALSO SPECIFIES THE ACTIONS NEEDED TO MEET THESE LIMITATIONS, AND DELINEATES THE STEPS TO BE TAKEN BY SAE TO ASSIST AND PARTICIPATE IN THESE ACTIONS. SUCH MEASURES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: FUEL CONSERVATION BY OPERATIONAL CHANGES IN PRESENT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS INCLUDING AIRCRAFT, RECREATIONAL, CONSTRUCTION AND AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY, FUEL CONSERVATION BY USE OF NEW DESIGNS AND DEVELOPMENTS; FUEL CONSERVATION BY CHANGES IN TRANSPORTATION EQUIPMENT USING ESTABLISHED DESIGNS AND TECHNOLOGY; OPTIMIZATION OF THE TOTAL TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM OF THE FUTURE, AND IDENTIFICATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE FUEL-ENGINE SYSTEMS OF THE FUTURE.
