Epidemiologic Basis of Alcohol-Induced Psychomotor Performance Impairment
This chapter describes how psychomotor performance impairment occurring after the consumption of alcoholic beverages is widely recognized and accepted by many of the medical and forensic communities and the lay public. It is also accepted that impairment occurs in a dose related manner. Although subjective observations may be required concerning impairment, it is necessary that strong, objective, scientifically based impairment findings are available to support civil and criminal litigation in alcohol-related cases, legislative action, as well as public education programs.
