PREDICTION OF TRAFFIC IN INDUSTRIAL AREAS 1. INDUSTRIAL CHARACTERISTIC 2. TRAFFIC GENERATION

A STUDY OF TRAFFIC GENERATION FOR FOUR DIFFERENT INDUSTRIES (MECHANICAL ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING, PLASTICS, AND TEXTILES) WAS CARRIED OUT AT THE PLANT AND INDUSTRIAL PARK LEVELS. THE FLOORSPACE TO WORKER RATIO WAS FOUND TO BE CONSISTENT WITHIN AN INDUSTRY BUT VARIABLE BETWEEN INDUSTRIES. EMPLOYMENT COMPOSITION (MEASURED IN FOUR INCOME CATEGORIES) WAS RELATED TO FLOORSPACE FOR PREDICTIVE PURPOSES. WORK TRIP ATTRACTIVENESS WAS FOUND TO BE DETERMINED BY EMPLOYMENT TYPE AND COMPOSITION.
