DYNAMIC STABILITY OF SHIP PLATES WITH INITIAL BENDING UNDER LONGITUDINAL IMPACT

The dynamic reaction of thin elastic plates of rectangular form to the action of pulsed longitudinal loads lying in the plane of the plate is discussed. Conditions of free support are assumed over the edges of the plate. In one case the load is uniformly distributed over one of the edges of the plate (a compressing load) and in the other case the load is uniformly distributed along a longitudinal rib (a shearing load). The movement of the plate is described by nonlinear equations of the mixed type considering the initial irregularities which are solved by the Bubnov method. Reaction curves obtained on the computer for a single-term approximation of the shape of the deformed surface of the plate are given.
