This paper presents an extensive investment--and replacement model especially designed for the shipping industry. The method is based on linear programming techniques, after a survey of existing methods the model developed at the Delft University of Technology is highlighted. Together with a verbal description of its constitution the formal representation of object function and constraints is given. The method has been applied to a fictitious examples, of which the results are presented. Order from NSFI as No. 17316.
