THE FUEL QUESTION

Domestic and international carriers and several federal agencies are considering strategies to offset petroleum reductions. Price, which is related to supply, is also an area of concern in the airline industry. Comments are made on some logistics of petroleum supplies. Near-term situation, however, is expected to be more promising. U.S. refinery yields and the divergent demands of the transportation sectors are noted. Comments are made on fuel supplies by National Airlines, TWA, Flying Tigers, Pan Am, Seaboard, and Northwest Orient.
