SALLINGSUND BRIDGE. GROUTING OF PRESTRESSING CABLES

SALLINGSUNDBRO. INJICERING AF FORSPAENDINGSKABLER

In the construction of the Sallingsund Bridge, the prestressing cables, 61,7 km in total length, were grouted with 370 cubic metres of cement mortar often in several stages about 10 cubic metres each. Use was made of new types of mortar, and the grouting was carried out en bloc, with a guided mortar front in several cable ducts. Effective control using gamma ray radiography, among other things, has shown that the quality of the grouting is satisfactory. This method has required greater efforts on the part of the contractor than is usual in grouting operations. /TRRL/
