THE EVALUATION OF ROAD TRAFFIC NOISE ANNOYANCE EXPERIENCED WALES, 15-17 NOVEMBER, 1978. PROGRAM AND PAPERS

The article examines the concept of assigning monetary values to levels of road traffic noise annoyance experienced by residents. Specific values for costs and benefits are used to illustrate the methods of analysis. The author then develops a method of calculating noise costs for different areas. This provides a means of determining major noise problems and, in combination with operational and economic costs, an input to the overall evaluation of road traffic problems. /TRRL/
