VIADUCTS ON THE REQUEJO - LA CANDA SECTION OF THE ACCESS ROADS TO GALICIA, SPAIN

VIADUCTOS REQUEFO-LA CANDA. ESPANA

The principal masonry structures of the section between Requejo and La Canda on the access roads to Galicia are four viaducts which cross deep valleys. There are a total of 37 spans of 32.20 M long along the four viaducts. The decks have been constructed of prefabricated beams, in a v-section, linked by an upper slab cast in place, which creates the continuity between the adjacent decks. The expansion joints have been located in every third or fourth span. The maximum height of the viaducts is 70 M. The viaducts have been constructed very rapidly, although a large section of the work was carried out in winter time, with frequent snow falls and under low temperatures, and in spite of the fact that the structures are located in a mountainous zone between levels of 900 and 1300 M. /TRRL/
