THE ROLES OF ROAD AND TRAFFIC AUTHORITIES IN ACCIDENT STATISTICS

Road authorities do not normally collect accident data. They make extensive use of data obtained from police reports in planning and evaluating roadworks. They also have a role in collecting data under certain special circumstances for use in subsequent planning. /TRRL/
