This handbook regroups methods of calculating structural stability applicable specifically to various pretensioned prestressed concrete units. It contains many constructional and technological details, charts and tables of values for use in the typical cross-sections of various units. Part of the handbook deals with thermal insulation and sound proofing, and fire behaviour; a summary of the main regulatory requirements is appended. The following aspects are discussed in turn: (1) definition and principle of pretensioning and prestressing; (2) ingredients, concrete, reinforcement; (3) material strength, calculation of composite sections and additional controls; (4) regulations applicable to buildings; (5) floor grids and prestressed joists; (6) prestressed beams, applications to industrial floors; (7) floors with prestressed slabs; (8) prestressed caisson floors; (9) lintels, posts, prestressed pile caps; (10) technology and controls of the manufacture of pretensioned prestressed concrete. /TRRL/
