PREDICTION OF NOISE LEVELS FROM FREELY-FLOWING ROAD TRAFFIC AN EVALUATION OF CURRENT MODELS

The performance of several Australian and overseas traffic noise level prediction models is examined. Using each of the models, levels were predicted, hour-by-hour for a 24-hour period, at the facade of houses along 19 roadways carrying freely-flowing traffic in the Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne urban areas. These were compared to levels measured previously at the same sites. Recommendations are made regarding the most appropriate models for Australian urban roadways, together with estimates of prediction accuracy. /Author/TRRL/
