THE EVALUATION OF ACTIVE BUS PRIORITY SIGNAL ROUTES

The paper describes some of the results of a demonstration project conducted in Melbourne to assess the effects of installing active bus priority at an isolated intersection. The results are extended to cover the installation of priority equipment at several intersections along a particular bus route. It is shown that regardless of the viability of an individual priority installation, a priority route will always eventually become economically worthwhile. /Author/TRRL/
