ANTISEISMIC DESIGN SPECTRA AS A FUNCTION OF LOCAL SOIL CONDITIONS

ESPECTROS PARA DISENO ANTISISMICO EN FUNCION DE LAS CONDICIONES LOCALES DEL SUELO

The data available on seismic movements registered in locations where the conditions of the subsoil are sufficiently well known, make it possible to obtain mean spectra of acceleration for four different geological situations: clay and sand, deep non-cohesive soil, rigid soil and rock. The conclusion has been reached that the form of the spectra varies as a function of the local soil conditions, which must be taken into account in regions subject to earth tremors of large magnitude. The mean spectra obtained in this study could be used as a guide in the design of structures which may be subjected to seismic movements. /TRRL/
