This article includes papers presented at a seminar in India in 1978. The paper on the importance of air borne trade notes the current healthy climate for the growth of foreign trade. The objective of air cargo transport should not only be to provide adequate economic services and handling arrangements but also to heighten the awareness among the exporting community of the importance of air cargo transport itself. The need for resiliency and flexibility in air freight rates is indicated. Other presentations include the following: What International airlines can do to meet India's export needs; Growth and professionalism in air freight; and Towards a rating structure for India's air exports.
