In November, 1977, a law of historic significance was enacted which greatly reduces the degree of economic regulation of domestic air cargo servics. Under its provisions, the way is opened for a great expansion of the number of airlines offering freighter service in domestic markets, and management is given a somewhat freer hand in setting domestic cargo rates. This article summarizes the provisions of the new law and discusses how it will affect each class of air carrier -- the passenger airlines, the all-cargo carriers, the supplementals, the air taxis, and new entrants. /Author/
