This publication describes projects funded by the Waste & Resources Action Programme that promote the greater use of aggregates from recycled and secondary resources. Areas considered include market demand for recycled aggregates, development of foamed concrete using recycled and secondary aggregates, properties of concrete with secondary and recycled aggregates, environmental effects, the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions, the potential of redundant airfields as a source of recycled aggregates, and setting requirements for recycled materials in local authority highways procurement. The AggRegain website (www.aggregain.org.uk) is described. For the covering abstract see ITRD E145817
