Repair and implementation of dynamic traffic data

A procedure for rectifying anomalies in traffic sensor data for use in traffic models is described. Extremely abnormal weather conditions, traffic accidents, traffic detector break down or communications failures caused by faulty lines in urban road transport network are given as the main causes of anomalies in the data. However these anomalies are correct except for causes such as traffic detector break down or communications failures caused by faulty lines in urban road transport network. Principles for the detection of false data are described. Methods of repairing the data include using those for an adjacent traffic lane with similar traffic flow, using data from an immediately adjacent time period, or for large data deficiencies, substitute the data for a similar week. The development of a time-space data fusion repair method is put forward to improve the accuracy of the data repair. The dynamic traffic data of the Changchun Street collected in November 1-7, 2006 were used successfully to test the repair algorithm developed. For the covering abstract see ITRD E140665.
