Design of future cargo aircraft will be affected by environmental constraints, fuel cost escalation, and inflation of development and operation costs. Benefits of advanced technologies on environmental impact will be realized in improved fuel efficiency, reduced noise levels, and reduced energy aircraft. Among the technologies used will be laminar flow control, advanced composite structures, and advanced turbofan and turboprop engines. Design concepts include high aspect ratio wings, distributed-load spanloader configurations, and wing-in-ground effect.
