CRACK FREE AND CRACKED LIFE OF THE PRESSURISED CABIN OF THE A300B -- CALCULATION, TESTS AND DESIGN MEASUREMENTS TO IMPROVE DAMAGE TOLERANCE

A description is given of the methods used in calculating the crack-free life, the cracked life, and the residual strength of the Airbus A300B passenger cabin. In addition, the results of determinations of fatigue failures and crack growth rates in full-scale tests are presented, and a comparison is made of the calculated service life and the service life attained during tests. Constructive measures to increase the crack-free and cracked service life are suggested.
