A metric for automotive transaxle rattle

Transaxle rattle is one of the gear-related noises frequently studied by researchers because the rattle appears often as either a warranty issue or a customer concern of noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) in the automotive industry. Kurtosis of automotive transaxle casing vibration is used to quantify transaxle rattle in this study. It proves that the kurtosis can be employed as a metric for the rattle. The targets are set. The development procedure to ensure green rattle status is recommended. Transaxle rattle data of a vehicle is studied and presented.
