Indirect tensile strength of asphalt mixes in South Australia

This paper presents the findings of an investigation that aims to introduce into laboratory practice the use of the indirect tensile strength (ITS) test on asphalt pats which were produced by a gyratory compactor. Analysis is provided of the relationship of ITS with bitumen content, air voids, grading and binder types. A test procedure has been prepared for use in a standard Australian asphalt production laboratory. (a) For the covering record of the conference, please refer to ITRD no. E218387.
