Nonlinear Analysis of Prestressed Concrete Bridge With Corroded Steel Strands

Research of the method of nonlinear analysis of concrete bridge with corroded steel strands is key to failure mechanism analysis and durability assessment of the existing damaged prestressed concrete bridges. By considering the problem of bond and slip between rusty steel strands and concrete, the formulas of Saenz and Skogman were applied separately to show the stress-strain constitutive relationships of concrete and prestressed tendons. Nonlinear spring and an analytical method rigid arm element-nonlinear spring element-steel strand element were used to simulate the bond and slip between rusty steel strands and concrete. A case study was conducted and the results prove the effectiveness of the method applied for nonlinear analysis of corroded steel strands in prestressed concrete bridges.
