HIGHWAY ACCESS AND ECONOMIC GROWTH-A CERTAINTY

A RECENT RESEARCH STUDY CONDUCTED BY THE TEXAS TRANSPORTATION INSTITUTE REVEALED THE ECONOMIC EFFECTS OF THE INTERSTATE AND ITS FRONTAGE ROAD ACCESS ON ADJOINING LAND AREAS. THE STUDY INVOLVED AN EVALUATION OF THE EFFECT OF THE ACCESS ON THE COST OF HIGHWAY RIGHT-OF-WAY FOR THE INTERSTATE SYSTEM AND SEVERAL RELATED AREAS OF ANALYSIS IN CONNECTION WITH FREEWAY ACCESS. REAL AND EXTENSIVE BENEFICIARY GROUPS OTHER THAN HIGHWAY USERS ARE AFFECTED BY HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION AND THE ACCESS PROVIDED TO THE FACILITY.
