Validating Automatic Map Deviation Reporting and Updating in a Large Scale Scope

Map updates that come from the end user community are a rising trend in the map industry. However, the commercial solutions that have come up until now only implement map updates that require user’s input. The FeedMAP project examined the concept of automatic, semi-automatic and manual map updates. The concept of automatic map updating has been put into a large scale test based on simulations and the results are presented in this paper. Since Field Operational Tests (FOTs) could not be applied for validating the system in real-world conditions, the large scale simulations are the only solution for getting a picture of the system’s performance in realistic scenarios.
