Matsis – Reduced CO(2)-Emissions by Adaptive Signal Control in Stockholm

Six different systems of coordinated traffic signals have been improved in the city of Stockholm in the project Matsis. The aim was to reduce CO2-emissions. Advanced but standard methods of Swedish signal control techniques have been used. This includes a number of different adaptive solutions. The results have been very good; Matsis is one of very most profitable environmental projects conducted by the city of Stockholm. But the result is even better if the effects on delay are taken into account. The results are so good that use of the Matsis methodology is recommended to be used at a large scale.
