Casualty reduction and trunk road management

The organisation of road safety in Wales is discussed, and a wide range of recommendations made to reduce accident rates. These recommendations include the establishment of a casualty reduction partnership to coordinate casualty reduction initiatives across Wales. Greater emphasis should be placed on investing in effective and properly resourced educational schemes in order to influence attitudes and behaviour on Welsh roads. While the Welsh Government is currently reviewing how all of the agencies concerned with road safety are working together, it is considered important to clarify roles and that a more strategic and effective approach should be developedin future.
