A COMPUTER PROGRAM FOR CALCULATING LINES OF EQUILIBRIUM BETWEEN MULTIPLE CENTERS OF ATTRACTION

A COMPUTER PROGRAM THAT REPRESENTS A BY-PRODUCT OF RESEARCH THAT IS BEING CONDUCTED AT THE CENTER FOR REGIONAL STUDIES ON THE GEOMETRIC PROPERTIES OF MARKET AREAS IS DESCRIBED. THIS PARTICULAR PROGRAM IS CONCERNED WITH THE DERIVATION AND GRAPHICAL PRESENTATION OF LINES OF EQUILIBRIUM ABOUT MULTI-CENTERS OF ATTRACTION. SUCH CENTERS COULD INCLUDE CITIES, INDIVIDUAL FIRMS, AGGLOMERATION OF FIRMS, ETC. THE PROGRAM IS LIMITED TO TRAVEL MOVEMENTS INVOLVING STRAIGHT-LINE DISTANCES. AS A CONSEQUENCE, RECTANGULAR MOVEMENTS OR ACTUAL TRAVEL ROUTE MOVEMENTS ARE INCAPABLE OF BEING UTILIZED IN THE PROGRAM. HOWEVER, COMPUTER PROGRAMS FOR SUCH TYPES OF MOVEMENTS HAVE BEEN WRITTEN AND ARE CURRENTLY BEING PREPARED FOR PUBLICATION AND DISTRIBUTION. /AUTHOR/
