Great Streets

For the third year in a row, the American Planning Association has chosen Great Places in America that are examples of good planning, urban design and architecture. This article highlights the 10 streets that have been selected for adhering to the concepts that make up a great street. The streets are located in Williamsburg, Virginia; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Bath, Maine; Traverse City, Michigan; Ann Arbor, Michigan; Greenville, South Carolina; Wheeling, West Virginia; Little Rock, Arkansas; Skagway, Alaska; and Collingswood, New Jersey. Most of streets chosen this year reflect the importance of preserving valuable historic resources while encouraging new development that supports healthy communities.
