Research on Traffic Data Analysis in China

In China, more and more cities begin to use probe car system to collect real time traffic data, which mainly includes the travel time of links. Based on them, travel time of Origin and Destination (OD) can be calculated, however, it is not enough for advanced traffic requirements. The intelligent transportation system requires more useful traffic information besides of travel time. Therefore the paper introduces an analysis method of traffic data. By using the method, more traffic information can be obtained, such as lack characteristics of traffic data, effective points in roads, and driver behaviors, etc, which are helpful to improve related system. Now the analysis method has been applied in some big cities of China, and the paper shows an application case in Beijing.
