MANAGEMENT RESEARCH STUDY OF THE DELAWARE STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT

THE ADMINISTRATION AND OPERATION OF THE DELAWARE STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT WAS REVIEWED. ALTERNATE ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURES AND ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURES WERE PROPOSED THAT WOULD, IF IMPLEMENTED, IMPROVE THE EFFECTIVENESS AND EFFICIENCY OF THE DEPARTMENT. SOME OF THE MAJOR AREAS OF INVESTIGATION INCLUDED LEGISLATION UNDER WHICH THE DEPARTMENT OPERATES, ANALYSIS OF THE EXISTING ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE AND MANAGEMENT CONTROL IT AFFORDS, BUDGET AND FINANCIAL PROCEDURES, PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT, LONG-RANGE PLANNING AND COORDINATION OF THE DEPARTMENT'S OPERATIONS, AND RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER STATE AGENCIES. /BPR/
