Real Time Support for Door to Door Journeys Enabling Available Choices

The development of intelligent transportation systems (ITS) in Goteborg has since the early 1990s further developed both the commuters’ demand for real time information and the public authorities’ demand for remote control of the facilities and public transport vehicles. With a well established system concept and wide customer acceptance of the present information services, Goteborg now takes the next innovative step to further empower the daily commuter. This paper describes how the public entities in Goteborg are working to satisfy the commuters’ needs for reliable individualized real-time information data. Experience is shared from ongoing field trials.
