Reducing the need for travel by improving land use predictions informing transport planning - final report

The Think Piece, to consider scope for improving land use predictions informing transport planning and how this can reduce the need for travel, has been commissioned under the DfT Horizons programme. It seeks to enhance the Department's understanding of: the key influences on land use planning; barriers to improving the accuracy and quality of land use predictions; emerging techniques that may improve land use predictions; and how the need to travel might be included when land use options are being developed and considered. The document contains sections as follows: Introduction; Background and context; Land use and transport planning processes; Current techniques and data sources; Summary and conclusions; and Recommendations for DfT.
