Autosar Standardised Application Interfaces - Support for Efficient Software Sharing
A description is given of Autosar (AUTomotive Open System Architecture) which aims to meet the challenge of the increasing complexity of automotive electric and electronic systems through efficient software sharing. The application interfaces are provided together with a standardised software architecture, a methodology, a related infrastructure and exchange formats. These interfaces enable the development of software components which can be easily combined with each other. For standardising application interfaces Autosar focuses on stable and often used applications. The current release includes specifications for standardised application interfaces for the three domains body/interior, powertrain and chassis. The next release will consider occupant/pedestrian safety and human/machine interface, telematics and multimedia. The advantages of Autosar are outlined and an example given of its application to the Automated Parking Brake.
