UTILITIES DISTRIBUTION PLANNING

THIS PAPER DISCUSSES AN UNDERGROUND TUNNEL SYSTEM TO TRANSFER WATER, GAS OR FUEL OIL, ELECTRIC POWER, TELEPHONE MAIL, MAGAZINES, PARCELS, NEWSPAPERS, FOOD, OTHER SMALL GOODS, CLEANING AND LAUNDRY, HEATED AIR (WATER), CABLE T.V., STREET WASHING WATER, FIRE HYDRANT WATER, AND OTHER SERVICES AND GOODS FROM CENTRAL DISTRIBUTION POINTS TO INDIVIDUAL HOMES. THIS WOULD ALSO FACILITATE REMOVAL OF WATER, TRASH, AND RAIN WATER. ADVANTAGES INCLUDE POLLUTION REDUCTION, AESTHETIC IMPROVEMENTS, REDUCTION OF TRAFFIC CONGESTION. IT ALSO OFFERS POSSIBLE INTEGRATION OF MUCH PRESENT DUPLICATION IN UNDERGROUND UTILITIES WHICH WOULD HELP REDUCE COST. THIS AND OTHER ADVANTAGES MAKES THE EXPENSE BEARABLE AS NEITHER SHOWS IN COST BREAKDOWN. A CENTRAL SYSTEM AND AUTOMATIC PACKAGE LABELLING IS DISCUSSED.
