Attracting and Keeping Talent in the ITS Area

The paper explores the challenges of education and training in the intelligent transport systems (ITS) area and describes techniques intended to provide solutions. The paper especially addresses the approach for attracting and keeping talent in the field. Four basic entities of the transport framework are identified: the transport workforce, training and education providers, the transport industry, and politics and the public authorities, and the roles of each entity are analyzed. In addition, some recommendations are provided for short-term, mid-term and long-term measures that may further help attracting and keeping talent in the ITS area.
